POSSIBILISTS AT WORK

VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH WILLIAM URY

CLIMATE CONFLICT

Collaborative Problem Solving to Get to YES on Climate

COP26 sends a signal to the world: We have a long way to go in carbon mitigation and the negotiations to get us there. Could collaborative problem solving unlock progress? William Ury is co-founder of Climate Parliament and frequently called to contribute to climate negotiations around the world. Watch William at the Vienna Energy Forum 2021, where he shares the potential for BB3 principles to help transform one of the most critical challenges we face today- the global climate crisis.

Many have asked if not us, who? And if not now, when? Yet, the next important question is how? As William shares, it begins within ourselves and requires collaborative problem solving. There are practical tools we can use to negotiate successfully even in these high-conflict arenas. As the motto for the Vienna Energy Forum states, it’s where action meets ambition. Knowing how to approach action can make all the difference. Sometimes it can even be counter-intuitive like stepping back to go forward.

IN OUR WORK AT SIDE3, we believe in our human capacity to transform the intractable issues of our times, like the climate conflict. The good news is that anyone can bring the BB3 method and possibilist mindset to their work . You don’t have to be a master negotiator as long as you hone these skills and stay committed to creating a path to possible.
