BB3 Intro Workshop
IT'S ABOUT
ALL OF US
Transforming conflict is hard work. The hardest work we humans can do. Whether you’re part of a team tackling the world’s toughest conflicts or an individual looking to improve your life and the world, this work is for you.
For those committed Possibilists willing to take on seemingly impossible challenges, side3 is creating a home to gather, learn and share - offering inspiring stories, practical tools and useful advice. We are convening and empowering the third side so that we can move forward for the good of all.
Our aim is a world transformed, yet we are clear-headed and practical. We have been on the frontlines where the impossible was made possible - from South Africa to North Korea – and have distilled those practices into methods any creative and courageous team can use. We’re actively engaged in issues as diverse as U.S. Elections, the climate crisis, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East, training teams to create a path to possible.
No more critical challenge faces each of us, and all of us together, than how to live together in a world of differences
WILLIAM URY
Bestselling author, and co-founder of Harvard’s Program on Negotiation, William Ury has spent the past 45 years helping individuals, organizations and nations at war get to YES.
William is one of the world’s leading experts on negotiation and mediation. Getting to YES, a sixteen-million-copy bestseller translated into over thirty-five languages, and the author of Getting Past No, The Power of a Positive No, The Third Side, and, most recently, the award-winning Getting to Yes with Yourself.
William has served as a negotiation adviser and mediator in conflicts ranging from wildcat coal mine strikes to boardroom battles to ethnic wars in the Middle East, Africa, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Indonesia. Together with President Jimmy Carter, he co-founded the International Negotiation Network aimed at resolving civil wars around the world. In recent years, he served as Senior Advisor to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos in negotiating an end to fifty years of civil war.
“A lot of people ask me after all these years of working on war, are you an optimist or pessimist? I like to answer that I’m actually a Possibilist. I believe in human potential…”
“My purpose here is to share the art of Possibilism with you so that together we can help make our world safer and happier for all.”
OUR PARTNERS
side3’s mission is to equip and empower a courageous community of Possibilists tackling the world’s toughest conflicts.
Side3 was founded in 2017 as a home for Possibilists seeking to interrupt the dangerous escalation of tensions between the United States and North Korea. Working in partnership with Marcel Arsenault, One Earth Future Foundation, and the Harvard Negotiation Project, Side3 catalyzed a shared project: xNI (the eXperimental Negotiation Initiative).
Since then, xNI has worked to crystallize the BB3 methodology and deploy it in conflicts as diverse as Venezuela, Afghanistan, Israel Palestine, U.S. Elections, and Ukraine.
